• Eat. Some would suggest this is a given. Food is a staple requirement right, so what is so special about cruise food? Well cruise ships have ever changing menus that will give you a taste of the local culture, as well as spoil you for choice by the number of outlets you will find on board. Make the most of having some world class chefs all in the same place by trying out food from all the eateries.
• Swim. The majority of boats have more than one pool on board where you can have a splash about, swim some lengths or sunbath on a lilo. The best bit is the is nothing to block the sun so you can enjoy the pools all day long as it crosses the sky. Modern liners even boast flumes, wave machines and surfing gadgets that will keep you entertained for hours.
• Casino. You should definitely experience the buzz of the casino, even if they whole thing is a little bit out of your comfort zone. Famed for their atmosphere, casinos are a great place to get to know people, have a lot of fun and pick up some tips on how to beat the banker. You don’t have to go out all guns blazing to have a good time. Blackjack is a good starting point to get yourself going if you’re a newbie. • Bar. There will be a number of different bars all over the ship and some luxury cruise ships are all inclusive, so there is no excuse not to sample some liquid delights. The barmen and ladies make a million martinis a day but will jump at the chance to make something a little more interesting. Ask them to make some traditionally to one of the countries you’re visiting or let them make their favorite drink for you. Some of the things these bar staff can do with simple ingredients will astound you.
• Shows. You are almost guaranteed to find something you like from the wide range of quality performances that cruise ships put on. They will be something for everyone and there are some acts that you cannot see anywhere else. Rhine River cruises often have shows twice a day. Ask the staff around the ship for their recommendations and cruise reviews. They will be the people in the know as they’ve probably seen the shows many times in the past.
