Three Completely Different Areas To See When Vacationing in The Lone Star state
By CruiseDirector | February 13, 2010
If you want to travel to a state that is sunny and warm most of the time, has southern charm and hospitality and has cowboys and southern belles, then head to the Lone Star state of Texas. There are many fun activities to do while in Texas and because it is such a big state, only three ideas will be mentioned in this article such as seeing how real working Dallas ranches operate to seeing all of the fun things along the river walk in San Antonio to hitting the beach in South Padre Island. A Dallas event facilities business highly recommends seeing all 3 of these activites when in Texas if you want a good overall feeling of the diverse activities in Texas.
The first stop is to go to San Antonio to see why over 26 million tourists head to this city every year. It is famous for the various Spanish missions in town including the most famous one of them called the Alamo. San Antonio is also known for the River Walk which is the banks that follow the San Antonio River. There are paths and bridges that allow you walk to all of the restaurants shops and bars along the river. They also have boats to take you up and down the river to various spots on the river and it is a must do in San Antonio. Many visitors also head to the Six Flags amusement park as well as the Sea World in town for more fun.
Another great way to get a sense of the cowboy lifestyle that a lot of Texans live is to go to one of the many ranches that exist. Many of them welcome visitors to experience the life on a real working ranch. This is fun for people who may live in big cities to experience what it is like to go horseback riding and try to herd cattle and some other activities that these real cowboys do. This is a great way for a family to have a fun filled interactive vacation with each other on a dude ranch.
The last recommendation is to get an idea of what the coastline of Texas is like and to head to South Padre Island and the beach. It is off the southern coast on the tip of Texas and is on the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre Bay and to get to the island, you take a car ride over a 2.5 mile bridge. The beaches here are beautiful with white sand and the warm Gulf water is a beautiful blue green. There are several stores, restaurants and bars on the island and a fun low-key atmosphere that actually says that wearing a tie on South Padre Island is prohibited.
Next time you want a wonderful trip where you can visit a ranch, go to the beach and take a tour of the Alamo, go to Texas. The southern hospitality will welcome all visitors with open arms.
