Tropical Vacation
By CruiseDirector | January 26, 2010
A tropical vacation is something lots of people dream of, and the planning for such a vacation often starts six months in advance. How prepared is one to prevent all inconveniences? What are the chances of forgetting something and not being able to make the best out of the sunny days there? Here are a few hints for things that you may have overlooked.
Protect yourself against insects! You need to keep bugs and mosquitoes away in order to preserve health and comfort. Pack loose cotton clothes because there are fewer chances of being bitten through clothing. Perspiration is your enemy because sweat-soaked clothes will not protect you. Do not ignore such issues when packing your luggage.
Match the clothes and the footwear not only with latitude and climate but with altitude as well. You may go to the tropics but if you climb mountains, you won’t be able to wear flip-flops and slippers. Sandals and sports shoes are the right choices for tropical warm climates, with the mention that you’ll have to wear socks occasionally. Make sure to pack some jackets too, because the weather could be cooler at night particularly if you go boating. Wind resistant and waterproof jackets are essential on such occasions.
A nice tropical vacation doesn’t have to be very far away from home. The further you go, the more expensive it will be. Some tourists will be enthusiastic about the Caribbean, Bahamas and Hawaii while others prefer the mysteries of South Asia. Getting an idea about the activities you will get involved in during the trip could also help you better pack. Make and use checklists to be sure that you get all you need.
Besides the packing, there are other priorities to take care of when preparing for a tropical vacations. Learn about the documents you need to carry, and inquire about the airline regulations in order to know what things you are allowed to take with you. Read about other peoples’ experiences on similar vacations, by reading online forums. Don’t make the mistake of taking careful planning for a lack of adventure or for boredom.
Knowing what activities you will be involved in, will simplify the packing part. And even if you have purchased some all-inclusive package, you still ought to be ready with some cash should it be the case. Talk to the travel agency and find out what exactly is covered by the all inclusive package of a tropical vacation.
