Do you Want To Retire In Cebu?
By CruiseDirector | February 10, 2012
Cebu Philippines is where I have been living for the last four years. Soon, I will mark my fourth anniversary in the Philippines. I didn’t know what the future would hold but I came with an open but skeptical mind. After four years, I am comfortable living in the Philippines It shine from being new has long ago diminished but I am still happy to live in the Philippines.
I’ve increased my opportunities in live by relocating to the Philippines. There are primarily two reasons for that. My cost of living is a lot less here than it was back in the USA. The second is at 49 when I first arrived, my dating choices where limited in the USA. I was 49 years old, not in the best health and my good looks long ago got up and left. Plus, I was almost poor in the USA. Having the cash to date would be hard to come by. I often say that I’d be too broke to breath.
I certainly do not consider myself rich even in the Philippines. I’m able to travel more because my cost of living in the Philippines is less than living in the USA. I should mention that the cost of travel in the Philippines is much lower than I experienced back in the States. A hotel usually cost me less than $30 a night. The last time I flew to another location in the Philippines the price of my round-trip ticket was about $75.00. Sometimes you can get them for even less as Cebu Pacific often offers tickets for as little as $1.00 and sometimes they were even free! However, you will still have to pay surcharges and taxes.
I have a pretty Filipina as my girlfriend. She was 29 when I first arrived. I feel a little guilty about how well she treats me. For example, next week she will be riding a bus for six hours to run errands for me. She often puts her own best interest behind my own needs. I have to be careful not to take advantage of her. The chances of my finding a woman like this to love me in the USA are just about zero.
Bantayan Island is the place I like to visit the most. In fact, it is my favorite place in the world. It is only about 2 hours from my home. When I get there, I find crystal clear water with white sand powered beaches. The best part of this there is usually almost no tourist there. However, during Holy Week that changes and you will find the beaches and resorts crowded
Palawan is also a grand place to visit. I visited there last year with my girl and went to the Underground River. It is the longest river under the ground in the world. It is now one of the New Seven Wonders of The World. I also visited Estrella Falls and we had lunch there. While eating, instead of squirrels playing in the trees, we had monkeys trying to steal our food. The monkeys were a hoot and were very unfriendly when I tried to hand feed them. I have a monkey at home that was a rescue. Her name is Juliet and she would have been very pleased instead of showing me a mouth full of sharp fangs.
I hope you’ll visit Cebu Experience and follow my life in Cebu. It may help you decide if living in Cebu is right for you. You can visit Cebu Experience by visiting this link: Living in Cebu
