The Process That Must Be DoneTo Create A Float From Scratch
By CruiseDirector | July 29, 2010
For a major parade, it can be really hard and a lot of hard work to create a perfect decorated vehicle for the occasion. For any of the people who are involved in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, preparation begins for the event at least a year in advance, sometimes more. Any kind of high school parade for homecoming usually only takes a few months since float plane training is hardly every involved. These parades occur all over the world with many nations have large parties that involve these decorate vehicles. Below is a list of steps that must be taken in order to have a float endorsement for all types of parades:
1. There has to be a design put into place before anyone can commence with building the major parts. A design for this type of thing can take either a lot of time or a pretty insignificant amount of time depending on the type of parade and what the other vehicles will be doing. It takes a huge amount of time to come with this aspect of the float, since all of the mechanics and measurements are included in this process.
2. Once the design aspect is finished, the pieces will start to come together. During this process either people who are volunteers or people who are paid to work on this project will commence with the testing process and try to start creating any piece of the thing that will be moving. Any part that is moving will pretty much all the time go through rigorous testing to make sure it only works in general, but that whatever part moves will do so correctly on the day of the parade.
3. After the basics of the thing are complete, then the making it look pretty phase really begins. For example, after the groundwork was finished people working on the parade of the Rose Bowl began to put grass on their decorated vehicle, so the grass would actually grow itself in time for the parade.
4. It can take hundreds of people to actually create a floating vehicle, especially for one that is shown at a major parade, like Thanksgiving or any of the college football bowl game parades. There are persons with electrical knowledge requested, people who can help design the actual product and people who can help with the decorating.
5. Of course, there also has to be at least one person who will actually drive the vehicle during the parade. This is a quite essential job because there are almost always a lot of people watching the parade and there is a lot of traffic, so it is important to have someone who knows what he or she is doing.
Each year, there are thousands of events across the globe that includes a parade as part of their celebration. Because of these many events, there are thousands of decorated moving pieces of art that are made specifically for such events. For an illustration, over the course of Carnival in Brazil there are many decorate vehicles that are made representing different samba schools around the country. Also, quite a few colleges are represented in the United States during the different parades for college football bowl games.
