From Packing To Passports: Creating A Plan For An Awesome Vacation

    By CruiseDirector | July 29, 2010

No matter how exciting a vacation may be, the planning and preparation part is enough to drive you up the wall. However, taking the planning phase one step at a time can help you plan an awesome family vacation, all while retaining your sanity. Before you even start looking for a destination, make sure you and your family has their passports. Don’t panic if you can’t find them or if the dog ate them. You see, passports renewal services are always getting easier, so you can replace yours without having to jump through too many hoops. If you are looking to go on a vacation, there is no such thing as planning to early. Getting your flights and everything else a head of time can end up saving you a lot of money.

The most exciting part about planning a vacation is picking the destination. Keep in mind exactly who you will be bringing with you and when you are going to go. The weather and the season heavily influence the outcome of your vacation. You don’t want to be traveling to Canada in the middle of the winter. Also, keep an eye out for family friendly attractions and activities. Taking the children to Tijuana probably isn’t the best idea, and there are many other destinations that are both kid and adult friendly.

If your passport is missing or damaged, invest in a replacement United States passport as soon as you can. A passport can take six weeks just to get to you, and you don’t want to be without one as your departure date approaches. Contact the embassy located at your destination country and see if you need visas or if you will have to pay an entrance fee. Also ask about which vaccinations are required. This information varies from country to country, so be sure what’s expected of you to avoid any last minute surprises.

Making a budget is an important part in picking a location. Sit down with your spouse and decide exactly how much money you are willing to spend. A vacation can still be enjoyable without having to completely obliterate your bank account. Simply searching for cheap flights, hotels, and rental cars can end up saving you a lot of money in the end. Many websites offer affordable packages for flights, hotels, and rental cars. Ask friends and families which travel sites they use the most. Doing this can save you a lot of time and money when it comes to planning your vacation.

If you’re going to be traveling for an extended period of time, make sure to leave important phone numbers and itineraries for a family member or friend so someone can always reach you. Be sure to have plenty of prescriptions and other medications for the duration of your trip.

There are tons of destinations that can fit any sort of travel budget, no matter if you’re just going with a friend or the entire family. A lot of the best experiences and most memorable attractions are absolutely free. So if you discovered your passport crumpled up under your car seat covered in mysterious sticky goo, go ahead and get a United States online passport renewal. A replacement United States passport won’t do you any good when trying to get out of the country. Last but not least, grab your camera and some batteries, and enjoy your vacation!
