    Visit to Barcelona

    Position around the mountains and the sea, Barcelona is 1 of the most exciting cities on the Western Mediterranean coast, a town with a zest for existence and artistic genius. Its distinctive areas bear witness to the place is expansion over the centuries: the maze of narrow streets in the Old Town, the 18th century fishing town of Barceloneta, the Modernista buildings of the Eixample district and the 1992 Olympic Games developments tasks in Montjuic and on the harbor all inform the narrative of a place prosperous in history, yet bravely recent.     Barcelona is the second Spanish place after its old rival, Madrid and the city of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. It is home to the seat of the Catalan administration, the Generalitat de Catalunya. The Catalans are ferociously proud of their cultural identity. Barcelona is a bilingual place where all official cipher and credentials are in Castilian Spanish and Catalan.

    Straddling the centre of Barcelona, from the docks to the Placa de Catalunya, is the famed tree lined Las Ramblas. This road is more normally crowded with entertainers, passengers and shoppers. Now to the east of Las Ramblas is the magnificent historic Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic), address to a countless of palaces, church buildings and the Cathedral la Seu which dates from the fourteenth century. Further west is the Eixample district, which was built throughout the 19th century and hosts a few of the place is Modernista style buildings, a good number well known is Antoni Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia. The building of this neo-Gothic temple was started in 1882 and it is not thought it will be concluded for at least a new twenty years. Another of Gaudi’s renown creations, the Casa Mila (La Pedrera) with its wavy lines and surrealist chimnies, is also located inside the Eixample.
    To the south of Barcelona is Montjuic Mount, which translates to ‘Jews Mountain’. This splendid vastness of plants is also quarters to a couple of well famous art museums, the Fundacion Miro and the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, and also the older 1992 Olympic arena. In favor of those passengers that desire a more exciting ascent to the climax of Montjuic, there is a cable car which goes up to the fortress. From there you can enjoy the fascinating vieuw of the port.
    An extraof Barcelona’s Museums is the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), locatedin a large glass covered building designed by an American planner Richard Meier. The MACBA has contemporary art pieces by Spanish and Catalan performers. Pablo Picasso spent some of his youngertime in Barcelona and there is a museum devoted to his painting, with pieces on explain that include ‘The Harlequin’ and a series called ‘Las Meninas’.

    The newly redeveloped Port Vell area contains an good-looking yacht port alongside boutiques, stores, bars, cafes, an IMAX cinema and a marine aquarium. Extra north is the famous fishing district of Barceloneta, which has also been rally improved upon in recent time. As well as some exceptional seashores and ample fish restaurants, Barceloneta is also domicile to the Museu Maritim which follows the city is maritime origin.
    It is one of Europe’s fine Gothic treasure homes and is home to over 55 museums. Two of the record 20th century performers, Picasso and Miró, lived and worked in the place, but it is perfect celebrated for the painting of Catalan builder Antoni Gaudi whose Sagrada Familia has become Barcelona’s most characteristic construction. The Eixample district counts various of the top Modernista fruits by Gaudi, Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, several of which are now listed as World Heritage places.
    Fly to Aeroporto Barcellona with cheap flights from several destinations across Europe. The airport is just half an hour far from the city center. You can either take a bus or a train.
